Genesis

PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Idukki is one of the most prestigious educational institutions of Idukki. This centre of excellence which was newly opened in the academic year 2008-2009 under civil sector was temporarily housed at Painavu. Later in 2015, it is shifted to its own permanent campus in Kuyilimala, Painavu. It is a 2 section school upto class XIIth with a strength of more than 640 students and 24 staff on rolls and has all along been striving to achieve academic excellence and development in the total personality of the students.

A scheme for opening 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas in Special Focus Districts w.e.f. 1.4.2007 was propagated by the Sangathan. A proposal for opening a KV in Idukki in the Civil Sector forwarded by the District Collector Idukki on 28.11.2007 was approved by KVS on 21.4.2008 utilizing the sanction of the non-functional Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. The school was sanctioned with one section each in Classes I to VIII during the year 2008-09. Before formally inaugurating commencement of classes in the Vidyalaya on 28.07.2009, KVS had accorded sanction for an additional section in Class I.

Important Milestones of Growth

28.11.2007 – Proposal for opening of KV Idukki by the District Collector.

21.04.2008 – KVS approved the opening of KV Idukki.

21.04.2008 – Opening of the KV with 1 section in each classes I to VIII sanctioned by KVS.

06.06.2008 – Sanctioned an Additional section in Class I

28.07.2008 – Formally inaugurated the Vidyalaya and classes started.

28.07.2008 – Commencement of classes formally inaugurated by Sh.Roshey Augustine, Honb’le MLA Idukki.

11.08.2009 – Sanctioned Regular Affiliation for Secondary School Examination by CBSE, New Delhi.

01.04.2009 – Consequential upgradation to Class IX and second section in Class II.

18.06.2015 – Shifted to new Campus.

08.07.2018 – New building inaguration by Dr. Satya Pal Singh(Hon. Minister of State, HRD)
